Travis Lee Black was born on February 5, 1958, to Dave and Emma Black in Jacksonville, Tx. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1976. After graduation he embarked in careers at A&B Mobile Home, Baxter and later retired as a correctional officer from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
He was a loving husband to Glenda and father to Tara and Lon Hinton, Crystal, Brandon, and Brandi Black. Mario and Yvonne McGowan, and Novaline and Felix Lane. A devoted grandfather to Jonah, Tristen, Da’Marion, Joseph, Cambrien, Amari’ay, Drew and AJ. Travis was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren accomplishments. Travis’ immense kindness and overflowing love live on through his children and grandchildren.Travis’ faith was a guiding force in his life, and he faithfully shared his walk with God throughout his years. He accepted Christ at a young age and continued his walk with God throughout his life. He was a member of Mount Haven CME and a Watch Care Member of Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Travis was loved by all who encountered him. Travis was always so willing to open his home to anyone and everyone. His love for family and friends was unconditional, his spirit was always giving, and his words comforting. His life philosophy was always to be respectful and encouraging to others. He loved wholeheartedly and was always lifting others up in prayer. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Black, parents Dave and Emma Black, and sister Reva Black. Keeping his memory and legacy alive are his beloved children, Tara and Lon Hinton of Jacksonville, Tx, Crystal Black of Dayton, Tx, Brandon Black of Tyler, Tx, Brandi Black of Rusk, Tx, Mario and Yvonne McGowan of Rusk, Tx, and Novaline and Felix Lane of Jacksonville, Tx, his cherished grandchildren Tristen, Jonah, Da’Marion, Joseph, Cambrien, Amari’ay, Drew and AJ; his beloved grand pups, Papito, Oreo and Gizmo. He also survived by his brothers S.D. (Brenda), David Lee (Diane), Raydell (Pam). As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. He will forever be missed and never forgotten.
