Ruby Dean “Mawmaw” Scott Franklin was born on November 23, 1952, though her birth was legally documented as September 1, 1950, in Jacksonville, Texas. Ruby entered her eternal rest on May 17, 2025, after a brief illness.
She graduated from Jacksonville High School and was married to Stanley Franklin. Together, they raised two children: Thurston Scott Nolan and Damon Franklin. Ruby retired from East Side Elementary, where she was deeply loved by her students and co-workers alike for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication.
Ruby was the kind of person who never met a stranger. Her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and open heart made everyone feel like family. She was truly loved by everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
A lifelong member of Greater New Zion Baptist Church, she served faithfully under the leadership of Dr. Charles Walls. Her faith was strong and evident in the way she lived and treated others.
Above all, Ruby cherished her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she poured her love, wisdom, and strength into each of them. She created a legacy of love that will continue for generations.
Ruby was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Scott, and her brothers: Jerry Scott, Frenchell Scott, and Homerzelle Scott.
