Joseph (Joe,JoJo) Ronald Russell was born on January 1, 1977 to Walter Russell Jr. and Shirley Ann Russell. He was raised on a farm just southwest of Jacksonville, Texas. Joseph’s home church was Brisby Chapel AME Church. He was an active member at a young age and sang in both the youth choir and later the adult choir.
As a preteen, he became a member of the Boy Scouts of America and also assisted working on cars at the Nays Auto Shop.
Joseph loved football as well playing on teams in middle school and high school including varsity team as an exceptional defensive lineman. Joseph graduated Jacksonville high school in 1995.
In February 1999, he wed Stephani Taylor and they had one daughter (Tiana) together. They were married for eight years. He worked at several establishments serving his community. Other hobbies included playing dominoes, chess, singing and bringing a smile to everyone’s faces.
Joseph was a loving father, grandfather, son, grandson, nephew and brother. He was the life of the party with a brilliant soul and a heart of gold.
Joseph passed on July 29th, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Russell, Jr.,grandparents, Walter Russell Sr., and Agnes Russell. Lemias Paige, and Sarah Jackson Paige.
He is survived by his loving mother, Shirley Ann Russell, sisters, Tanya Smith, Sophia Price, Vanita Dennis (brother-in-law Ronnie Dennis), Kim Russell, brothers, Walter Russell III, Tyrown Russell, Nehemiah Russell and Jeremiah Russell, children: Bre Bolt, Tiana Russell, Anthony Russell, Tatyanna Russell, Jamison Crockett, Sharon Walding and Cason, grandchildren: Xander Russell, Xayleigh Russell, Zy’Kireious Jackson and Kyng Walker, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
