Doris Leneall Bush-Chase was born on October 10, 1941, to Lynn and Emma B. Bush in Jacksonville, Texas. She attended Jacksonville schools and graduated from Fred Douglass High School in 1960. She transitioned on December 31, 2025.
Doris united with Christ at an early age. In her later years, she joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Texas, where she was baptized by her son, Rev. Maurice Chase, on November 2, 2014, under the leadership of Pastor Sedrick Moore.
She loved the color purple, but if you really knew her, you knew she loved every color in the rainbow—and that was usually what she wore. Doris loved her family, dancing, cooking, and people in general. She never met a stranger. She opened her home to everyone, offering a drink of water, food to eat, a place to sleep, and a hot shower. Doris was truly a blessing to many, treated everyone like family, and will definitely be missed.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Lynn and Emma B. Bush; four brothers, Billy Bush, Johnny Bush, Sam Bush (Sue), and Frettie Bush (Gail); two sisters, Eula B. Bush and Linda K. Bush; and one grandson, Lawrence Terrell Bush.
She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Lewis Bush; two daughters, Chulita Polk and Oletha Bush; two sons, Arthur Chase (Cosandra) and Maurice Chase (Katina), all of Jacksonville, Texas; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
