Devonta Kindall McBride Stoker, 28, of Longview, Texas, passed away tragically on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Longview, Texas. Devonta was born on July 26, 1997, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Linda Thompson and Dewight McBride. He was also lovingly raised by Ruth Jones, who played a major role in his life and upbringing.

Devonta grew up between Jacksonville and Longview, where he attended Longview High School before returning to Jacksonville to complete his education and graduate. He was known for his kind heart, easygoing spirit, and the ability to make others laugh even in difficult times. Devonta had a natural gift for bringing light and warmth wherever he went.

In his spare time, Devonta enjoyed playing video games, fishing, and listening to his favorite music. He was an avid fan of Chris Brown, whose songs often reflected Devonta’s fun and carefree personality. Those closest to him will remember his love for good music, laughter, and simple moments shared with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his parents, Linda Thompson and Dewight McBride; his loving mother figure, Ruth Jones; his siblings, Destiny Jones, Kalinda Jones, Tommy Bell, Rosco Thompson, and David Rowe; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he adored dearly—Ta’Jza Montgomery, Da’Jza Montgomery, Nikky, Tyraysha, Cameron Bell, and Kingston Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Minifee III, who passed away in 2019.

Devonta’s passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though his time on earth was brief, the love he shared, the memories he created, and the kindness he showed will live on forever.
